THE CHALLENGE
A large amount of research data has been gathered and stored over the years by our customer, a German flavor and chemical company. The organization has multiple research teams working on various topics, and each team has its own data processing techniques, storage system, and data format. Due to the lack of a centralized data repository and the existence of data duplication and discrepancies among many teams, it is challenging to efficiently share and access the data. The company’s capacity to innovate and make data-driven decisions is hampered by the lack of a single source of truth for data.
OUR APPROACH & SOLUTION
Our approach included analyzing existing data sources, designing and implementing a data warehouse using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Autonomous Data Warehouse, migrating data to the new warehouse in phases, implementing data security and governance policies, and providing user training and support. The goal of the project was stated to create an initial version of a single source of truth for data for the global R&T organization of the client.
